I understand that police have a difficult, sometimes very dangerous job. They are paid to enforce the laws and protect citizens; however, I am appalled that Lisbon police waste their time harassing kids riding their bikes or skateboards.
I know that from experience. I am a teenager from Lisbon Falls and I get yelled at all the time for riding my bike around town.
The police should be focusing on more important things.
If they do not want kids biking or skateboarding around town, they should sponsor the construction of a skate park in Lisbon Falls.

verified Did it ever occur to you that the police are "harassing" you because you are engaging in dangerous behavior? You may be about to cause a car accident, hit another pedestrian, or get hit yourself. Yes, the police do have better things to do then warn teens about how their lack of common sense is a danger to others. The world does not revolve around you, and you must be aware of the world around you. I do agree that you and your friends should take the initiative and design a skate part, just like teens in most other towns have done. That is, if those harassing police will allow you to.
Ernest, are you serious? It's all about the paperwork? If a kid gets hit and killed it's all about the dead child, the grieving family and friends, and all about the person who hit the child having guilt forever.
Michael perhaps the Lisbon police are trying to prevent work by hollering at bike riders and skateboarders. Do you realize how much paperwork is involved when a child is killed in a car pedestrian stuation. Someday when you are older and a parent of a teenager you will look upon this in a different light. Until then stay off the busy streets, and do as northwoods suggested.

The police are probably "harassing" skateboards because of complaints by towns people. I do think it would be a great idea for Lisbon falls to create a skateboard park. Maybe you and friends should design a park and speak to contracters and present your plan to your town office at a town meeting.
