Correcting inaccurate statement

0

On Sept. 8, a letter to the editor in support of my run for mayor of the city of Lewiston provided inaccurate information. The letter indicated that I was a former Lewiston Police officer. Although, I was a police officer for 20 years and served at several departments, most of my full-time career, which started in 1990, was with the Farmington Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Rumford Police Department.

I served in many roles during those years, including patrolman, detective and lieutenant of the Criminal Investigation Division. I also served as the acting police chief in Rumford. I have numerous recognitions for outstanding service during my time in law enforcement. For many years, I investigated crimes against women and children and, in one case in particular, I assisted both the Lewiston and Auburn Police Departments serving in a temporary undercover role that resulted in the arrest of two long-time local pedophiles.

I have great respect for the officers of the Lewiston Police Department and consider some of them my friends. I would never want to betray that respect by allowing a simple mistake to portray an inaccurate statement.
