WILTON — Wilton’s Countryfolk Music Theatre is now listed at www.warmshowers.org, a website offering host camping sites for U.S. and international touring bicyclists.
Sally Latham and Larry Bisbee welcome cyclists to stop by on local or trans-continental bikes trips. “Individuals or groups from bicycle clubs are welcome” said Bisbee as they prepare for the upcoming summer of visiting bikers and country music Sundays.
Bisbee is a former radio broadcaster and YMCA executive director and has hosted the Countryfolk Music Theatre for the past 12 years and touring bicyclists for the past three years.
Bisbee is a former YMCA director in Maine and has organized YMCA bicycle tours in Maine, Canada and Europe.
Bisbee said, “We have 7.5 acres of fields and woods available for tenting as well as musical jam sessions on Sunday afternoons from Sunday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.”
Countryfolk Music Theatre is located in the East Dixfield section of Wilton, on U.S. Route 2, Maine’s cross-state highway, the main route from all Canadian Maritime Provinces and eastern Maine to New Hampshire and Vermont.
“We are a rustic but friendly venue and welcome bicyclists, free of charge, to our property and hope they can arrive during jam sessions and campfires,” said Bisbee.
Latham said, “Our most recent touring cyclists have been from New Zealand, France, England and USA. One of our bikers, Nathan Winters completed his cross-USA trip and will be returning to visit us.” Winters is writing a book of his travels and has included his visit to Countryfolk.
