Credit union supports food pantry

LEWISTON – The Rainbow Federal Credit Union has donated $300 to the Sisters of Charity Food Pantry, 208 Bates St.

“Rainbow’s generosity is an important contribution to the community,” said pantry supervisor Joyce Gagnon. “For every dollar contributed to the pantry, we can provide $12.50 worth of food to our clients. That means Rainbow’s donation is worth $3,750 to our community.”

Employees and members of the Rainbow Federal Credit Union raise money year-round through various events to benefit the Ending Hunger in Maine program.

The credit union then determines where it would like to donate the money in order to address hunger and its impact. The money for the donation to Sisters of Charity Food Pantry was raised by the credit union during 2005.
