NORWAY — The Alan Day Community Garden Coordinating Council has announced that Rocky Crockett has accepted the position of Garden Coordinator for the 2010 growing season. His work will include planning workshops, organizing volunteers, implementing design concepts and overseeing summer interns.

The Alan Day Community Garden is located on three acres on Whitman Street. The land was owned by artist and community leader Alan Day (1954-2008) and is now owned by Day’s daughters, Emma and Ruby DayBranch. Day envisioned the land as a community garden, and that vision is becoming a reality through a group process of cooperation and creativity.

A 1996 graduate of Oxford Hills High School with a bachelor of arts from St. Lawrence University, Crockett has recently returned to the Oxford Hills from Pennsylvania where he worked as a farm manager, a home builder and a youth counselor.
