Cutler reducing television ad buy

PORTLAND — Independent Maine gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler is reducing his budget for television advertising in the week leading up to the election.

A spokeswoman for Cutler says the budget for the week that began Tuesday and ends the day before the election is being cut from $150,000 to $120,000. The statement from Cutler’s campaign comes a day after Cutler acknowledged that the odds of him winning the race are long.

Cutler is running against Democratic Rep. Mike Michaud and Republican Gov. Paul LePage. Cutler reiterated on Wednesday if voters don’t believe he can win, they should vote for someone else. He also said he won’t drop out of the race despite increasing pressure from progressive voters who view him as a spoiler who will hand another term to LePage.
