Daughters of Isabella held monthly meeting

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima held their monthly business meeting on Feb. 12.

The meeting was called to order by Vice Regent Annette Melanson. The recitation of the rosary was led by chancellor Laurianne Castonguay. The opening prayer was said. The pledge to the flag was recited.

Sitting in for absent officers, Rita Crowley filled in for Laurie Gagnepain, Maryette Castonguay for Karen Daniels and Gina Labbe for Linda Ouellette. Roll call of officers was said. Recording secretary Jackie Castonguay read the minutes of the January business meeting.

Next Jackie read thank-you cards received from the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital and from State Regent Jacqueline Dostie Smith. Also from State Regent was a letter about the off-year workshop that will be held on May 17. For more information, call Regent Denise Rodzen.

A letter from International Regent Christiane Chagnon was read. There were no applications for memberships or transfers to report. Get-well cards were sent to Denise Soucy, Peggy Jacques and Annette Melanson.

Unfinished business was reported. Fern Doiron wants everyone to think about the theme baskets. There are still so many baskets to be chosen. Members should call Fern to let her know theme choice.

It was reported that the warming center in Farmington is in need of breads and desserts to be donated for the meals. For more information, call Maureen Martin from St. Joseph’s in Farmington. Rita Crowley spoke to the group about this and if anyone would like to make something and bring it down to her she will be glad to take it to the suppers. The meals were planned for Feb. 18 through the end of March.

On March 7 the Daughters will be saying the stations of the cross. Any Daughter wishing to help is asked to call Laurieann Castonguay.

Gina Labbe spoke next about the Daughters doing another assisting with the Mass. Gina will call the office to get a date.

Participation in the Memorial Day Parade was discussed. Fern Doiron said that she would not be able to head up this task this year. Kim Couture will head up the parade. The next topic was the Blueberry Festival Parade. Kim Couture will head this parade as well.
