Daughters of Isabella meet

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 met on March 10.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Regent Laurie Gagnepain. Chancellor Laurieanne Castonguay led the group in the restoration of the Rosary. Recording Secretary Louise Chandler read the minutes from the February business meeting.

Castonguay told the group that she had ordered more crosses for the group doing their First Communion on May 17. Gagnepain read a letter she received from the Girls’ State delegates asking for the daughters to sponsor them again.

There were no applications for membership or transfers. Maryette Castonguay spoke about the bean supper that was planned for March 13 at the parish hall. She said everything was coming together well. She also said that she received a call from the Boy Scouts and asked if the hall could be cleaned up Saturday as the scouts would be using the hall on Sunday.

The group suggested that Boy Scouts come Saturday after the bean supper to help with the clean up.

Gagnepain handed out a letter about the structure of the Daughters of Isabella and said there is a Maine State Circle, Daughters of Isabella State off-year workshop that will be held on May 15 in Brunswick. Any member who like to attend should contact Gagnepain or Jackie Castonguay.

Gagnepain reported that get well cards were made and sent to Shirley Toncer, Irene Sampson, Denise Rodzen and Anita Marchette. There was also a donation given for five Masses for Maggie Dufour.

Annette Melanson said that she has not received  many e-mail addresses so she could send the newsletters via e-mail. Sending an e-mail would save the group money on ink, postage and paper.

Gagnepain made name tags for everyone, so all the new members would know the names of everyone in the group. The meeting came to a close at 8 p.m.
