AUBURN – Denise Marie Dube, 36, of 155 Montello St. in Lewiston, died early Sunday, April 16, at the Hospice House, with family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston, April 16, 1970, a daughter of Fernand and Micheline (Vallieres) Goulet. She was educated in local schools, graduated from Lewiston High School in 1988 and remained a lifelong resident of this community. She received her bachelor’s degree in education as a 1993 graduate from the University of Southern Maine and later received her master’s degree from the University of New England in 2004.

She was currently employed as a kindergarten teacher at Martel School, where she has taught for the past 10 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Church and for many years served as the competition cheering coach at Edward Little High School, as she herself was a cheerleader all through her school years since first grade.

She enjoyed time with family, exercising and fitness, skiing and water sports in the summer. But her real life’s passion was her own children and the many children she taught in the school system over the past 15 years. She loved the kids and loved her profession as an educator and teacher. As a testament to her passion for teaching, she had been selected several years ago as one of only two teachers in the state to represent “Tribes,” which was a program that taught different ideas, concepts and techniques in education. She will be sadly missed by her family, many friends and her large extended family of colleagues in education, a career she truly loved.

She leaves her husband of seven years, Shawn Dube of Lewiston, whom she married on April 18, 1999 in Hawaii; two sons, Tyler Roy and Brandon Dube, both of Lewiston; her mother and father, Fern and Micheline Goulet of Lewiston; two sisters, Deborah Jalbert and her husband, Edward, of Lewiston and Diane Goulet of Lewiston; a brother, Thomas Goulet and his wife, Doreen, of Wales; six nieces and nephews, Abby and Sadie Goulet, Nathan Cyr, Nicholas and Noah Jalbert and Gabrielle Dube; a grandniece, Haylee Cyr; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Dube of Auburn; her father-in-law, Gerald Dube of Casco; a sister-in-law, Kim Dube of Auburn; and a brother-in-law, Richard Dube of Auburn.
