DHHS: No contaminated cans in Plaistow

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – State health officials say there was a false alarm about contaminated canned goods being found on store shelves in Plaistow.

Initially, the state said Plaistow officials had found recalled canned food from Castleberry’s Food Company at a Shaw’s Supermarket in the town.

It turns out the food was found at Market Basket, and that the size of cans on the shelves was not involved in the recall.

Canned chili, beef stew and Natural Balance dog food made by Castleberry’s Food Co. in Georgia is being recalled around the country because of botulism concerns.

A list of the recalled products is on a Castleberry’s Web site. The state also has set up a hotline.
