We were pleased once again to have the Sun Journal cover this year’s Chili Chowder Taste Contest. Thank you for supporting our event and our program in this way.
I can’t help, however, to be a bit disappointed by some of the content of the reporter’s article covering this great event. Some inappropriate remarks from one of the judges were quoted by the reporter, negatively portraying the quality of this year’s competition. I would like to clarify that the opinion was by no means held by the vast majority of those involved with this year’s Chili Chowder Challenge.
I thank each of the restaurants involved for their hard work and great chilies and chowders that they shared at this event. Each year, our participating restaurants never cease to impress us with their generosity and with the quality of the products they display and share with our guests.
The Green Ladle is proud to sponsor this event, which supports a very worthy cause. All event proceeds go to Longley Elementary School in Lewiston, meeting the physical and educational needs of students at the school.
Again, I thank the Sun Journal for its help in promoting and covering the Chili Chowder Taste Challenge, as well as our participating restaurants, our volunteer staff and our host, The Ramada Inn Lewiston, for making this year’s event a great success.
