DIXFIELD — The following incidents were handled recently by the Dixfield Police Department.
Aaron Marshall, 28, of Barrington, N.H., lost control of his 2002 Ford Explorer at 8:40 p.m., Feb. 27, as he was driving east on the Canton Point Road. He hit a patch of slush, slid across the road, then struck a utility pole. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at between $,6000 and $7,000.
George Affleck, 50, residence unknown, struck a deer on March 5 as he was driving east in a Jeep, year unknown, on the Canton Point Road. The deer was able to get up and walk into the woods. The Jeep sustained no damage.
Ann Blood, 40, of Phillips, failed to negotiate a turn at 8:30 p.m., March 13, as she was driving her 2003 Dodge Caravan north on Route 142. The van, which sustained substantial damage to the front end, came to rest in a ditch. The deployment of the airbag caused blunt trauma to Blood’s face. She was taken by Med-Care Ambulance Service to Rumford Hospital, where she was treated and released.
Wanda McLeod, 38, of Main Street, Dixfield, struck a deer at 7:30 p.m., March 15, as she was driving her 1998 Ford van east on the Canton Point road. The deer was killed. The vehicle sustained about $1,000 damage.
Mallory Tompkins, 23, Dixfield, was issued a criminal summons on a charge of operating after suspension, at 10:10 p.m., March 12, on Weld Street. She is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on June 8.
A Brackett Street resident reported at 8:30 p.m., March 11, that someone attempted entry into her garage. She described the person as a juvenile male. He ran from the garage when he saw her. Nothing was reported missing.
