Dogs drop Mets


PORTLAND (AP) – David Murphy’s ground ball drove in Matt Van Der Bosch from third base to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 4-3, 10-inning win over the Binghamton Mets on Friday.

Portland (4-4) grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Van Der Bosch singled, Murphy walked and with two outs, Jeremy West hit his first home run.

Binghamton (7-2) made it 3-2 in the sixth, as Carlos Gomez, Wilson Batista, and Andy Wilson singled to load the bases, Jay Caligiuri walked to force in Gomez and Corey Ragsdale’s groundout plated Batista.

The Mets tied the game in the seventh when Jonathan Slack singled, went to second on Kevin Rios’ grounder, and came home when Gomez doubled.

Portland’s Kevin Frederick (1-1) pitched a scoreless inning for the win.

, while Binghamton’s Ivan Maldonado (0-1) took the loss.
