BRUNSWICK — Dominique R. Couture, 93, resident of Durham Road in Brunswick died Tuesday, March 2, at Mid-Coast Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1916, in Bowdoin, a son of Alcide A. and Caroline (Pinard) Couture. He attended schools in Bowdoin.
In 1960, he moved to Brunswick and had lived there since. He worked as a machinist first class at Hyde Windless Corporation (now BIW) for many years retiring in 1981.
He was a communicant of St. John’s Church in Brunswick. He enjoyed spending his free time gardening. He was especially proud of the various flower gardens he had and often times, people driving past would stop and ask if they could purchase his flowers. He always refused to sell them, but would happily give them to people at no cost. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed cross country skiing. He had a great memory and enjoyed sharing stories of his hunting trips he had taken in his younger days.
He is survived by his brother, George F. and his wife, Joanne Couture, of Bowdoin; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Donald and Claire Austin.
