Donald E. Verrill


GRAY – Donald E. Verrill, 84, of Gray, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Jan. 12.

He was born in Gray, in the home he currently resided in, on Feb. 26, 1922, a son of the late Ernest C. and Eva (Edwards) Verrill. He attended local Gray schools and graduated from Pennell Institute in 1940.

He married Mary Louise Spencer on Nov. 23, 1950.

Donald was a past master of Sabbathday Lake Grange.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer all his life, selling his milk to Oakhurst Dairy in Portland. Together, he and Mary enjoyed their life and work on the farm.

In later years, he enjoyed woodworking and the time spent with his family, grandchildren and dog, Ginger.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda, her husband, Robert Pelletier, and their children Laura, Brian and Rebecca of Lewiston; a son Ernest, his wife, Wendy, and their children Cody and Ryan of Gray; a brother, Irving of North Yarmouth; and a sister, Aldine Wallace of Superior, Wis.

He was predeceased by his wife in September 2000.
