AUBURN — The deadline for applications for the $5,000 annual Donald Gay Scholarship is Sunday, May 15. Senior students participating in Edward Little High School’s music or drama programs are encouraged to check with the guidance department for application forms.
The award was created in 2001 by the E.L. class of 1951 in connection with its 50th reunion. It is presented to a senior class member who has made an outstanding contribution to either the music or drama programs over the student’s four-year career.
The award is traditionally made at Edward Little’s Class Night ceremonies at the school. Gay, who led the Auburn schools’ music program in the late 1940s and 50s, is living in Houlton and recently observed his 98th birthday. Those wishing to support the scholarship fund may send checks made to the Donald Gay Scholarship Fund care of Malcolm Philbrook at Crockett, Philbrook & Crouch, 178 Court St., Auburn, ME 04210.
