AUBURN — It is with great sorrow that we announce that Donna Lee (Smyc) Harris, 73, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

She was born in Lewiston on June 13, 1941, a daughter of the late Joseph and Janet (Larrabee) Smyc. She grew up in the Auburn area and attended local schools there. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1959. In that same year, she became the wife of Robert E. Harris Sr. Together they raised two sons, Bob Jr. and Brian. Donna was an avid crafter, spending her time making quilts for all family members which will be cherished for many generations. For many years, Donna worked part time at Food Town in Auburn as a cashier, while during the day providing childcare to her special nieces, Sue (Vincent) Callahan and Tracy (McAlister) Watson, along with children of family friends and her grandchildren, who were her great love in life.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal parish in Auburn, ECW and Vestry. She was also a member of the United Commercial Travelers (UCT), First Auburn Senior Citizens and Mainely Madams Red Hat Society. Donna will be sadly missed by her boys, grandchildren, sisters- and brothers-in-law. Friday morning breakfasts at Roy’s and family get togethers at Tripp Lake at the Harris Family camps will never be the same.
