1944 – 2010

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — Doris M. Desbiens, 65, of Sutherland Pond Road, Sabattus, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 8, while vacationing with her husband in Florida.

She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 3, 1944, the daughter of Roland and Josephine (Castonguay) Caron. She attended schools in Lewiston and was a graduate of Lewiston High School.

She worked for several years as a hairdresser and later attended CMVTI, where she received her degree in nursing. After her schooling, she worked for many years at the Family Paractice at Central Maine Medical Center and was recently employed at the Hallowell Family Practice.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus, the Health Club and Spa in Lewiston and played in the Mixed Golf League on Monday nights at Fairlawn Golf Course.

She was an avid Red Sox fan and golfer and enjoyed camping, knitting, making wreaths, reading and especially enjoyed going to all her grandchildren’s activities.

She was a caring, giving, and bubbly person who touched so many lives. She always put everyone before herself and never said a bad word about anyone. She was a person who worked very hard for her family, and she was the backbone of the family. She never gave up, no matter how difficult some times would be. She will be sadly missed by her family and by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Desbiens, with whom she spent 29 wonderful years together of Sabattus; her three daughters and families, Michelle and Dan Brochu and their children Cameron and Courtney of Scarborough, Doreen and Kevin Gee and their children Alec and Tyler of Falmouth and Debra and Jody Bridges and their children Megan, Grant, Caitlin and Paige of Pensacola, Fla.; her son, Michael Desbiens and his wife, Claudia, of San Pablo, Calif.; her sister, Jackie Boulanger and husband, Norm, of Lewiston; her brothers, Robert Caron and wife, Carmen, of Monmouth, Donald Caron and wife, Monique, of Buxton and Conrad Caron and wife, Sue, of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her daughter, Christine.
