Dorothy L. Wentzell


LITCHFIELD – Dorothy Lillian Wentzell, 82, died at her home with her loving family at her side on Monday, May 29, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Wales, on April 6, 1924, the daughter of Chester and Florence (Brown) Perkins. She married the late Linwood Wentzell Sr. in Litchfield on Dec. 16, 1944.

Dot was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was famous for her homemade biscuits. She worked at several shoe factories and local mills in her early years, retiring in 1974.

She is survived by five children, Margaret Estabrook and husband, Vaughn, Linwood Jr., Charles, Glen and wife, Julie and Barbara Moody and husband, Doug, all of Litchfield; five brothers, Ray, Leroy, Ralph, Charles and Donald Polley; eight grandchildren, Tracy, Jodi, Jessica, Jeff, Jason and Chris Wentzell, Mellissa Dube and Craig Moody; and 10 great-grandchildren, Gregory, Almeda, Siera, Dylan, Jacob, Alicia, Briana, Craig Jr., Victoria and Kaylee.

Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Leet; and three brothers, John Perkins and George and Alton Polley.

Dot’s family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the special care extended to Dot and their entire family over the duration of her illness.
