Dr. Labul earns two designations

FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital announces that Larry Labul, DO, has earned the degrees of Fellow in two specialty areas — internal medicine and hospital medicine.

Dr. Labul received the honorary degree of Fellow for excellence in the practice of internal medicine by the American College of Internists. To qualify for the distinction, Dr. Labul demonstrated continued professional accomplishments, scholarship and professional activities, including teaching, research, and community service. The ACOI is a national medical specialty society representing more than 3,500 osteopathic internists and medical subspecialists.

In addition, Dr. Labul is among more than 150 hospitalists nationwide who have earned the first Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine. To be designated as a Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine, an applicant must serve as a hospitalist for at least five years, be a member of SHM for at least five years, and demonstrate dedication to quality and process improvement, commitment to organizational teamwork and leadership, as well as lifelong learning and education.

Dr. Labul is board-certified in hospice and palliative care, as well as internal medicine.

He has been a hospitalist at Franklin Memorial Hospital since 2005. Hospitalists are specially-trained physicians who care for patients during a hospital stay.
