Durbin leads Dogs to third straight

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) – Chris Durbin went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs Tuesday to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 7-3 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats and their third straight Eastern League win.

Durbin had a single and scored in the first inning, doubled in the third and had RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings when Portland (3-2) broke the game open.

Highly touted Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Craig Hansen (1-0) earned the win despite loading the bases in his two innings.

Hansen, who walked three and struck out one, escaped unscathed in both the fifth and sixth innings by inducing infield grounders.

Hansen replaced starter Devern Hansack, who yielded three runs in four innings.

Doug Deeds hit his third homer of the season for the Rock Cats (1-4). Jason Grove and Denard Span had two hits each.

Justin Olson (0-1), who walked the leadoff hitters in the fifth and sixth innings to trigger Portland’s rallies, took the loss in relief of starter Adam Harben.
