PERU — E. Harvey Manson Jr., 84, died Saturday, Feb. 11, at his residence on the Dickvale Road.
Born in Dixfield, on July 16, 1927, he was a son of Eugene Harvey and Margaret Wiskont Manson Sr. He graduated from Stephens High School, Class of 1945, and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman from 1946 to 1949. He worked as a United States postal carrier in Rumford until his retirement.
Harvey was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius — St. John Church. He was a member and past president of the Chisholm Ski Club, member and past president of Robert Shand Post No. 1641 VFW, member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post No. 24 American Legion and the DAV. He was a member and past grand knight of Fr. Ambrose J. Barry Council No. 2091, Knights of Columbus.
He was married to Isabelle Garneau, who died in 1996. In 2000, he married Elaine Godin, who survives, of Peru. Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Manson, of Roxbury; three sons, John and his wife, Lynn, of Canton, N.Y., Larry and his wife, Stephanie, of North Conway, N.H., and Jim of Rumford; two stepdaughters, Jan Peaslee and her husband, Larry, of Mexico, and Christine Smith and her husband, Eugene, of Oxford; two stepsons, Mark Gerrish and his wife, Tammy, of Rumford and Jay Gerrish and his wife, Christine, of Mexico; and 10 grandchildren.
