Earl T. Hanmer
1923 – 2010
MEXICO — Earl T. Hanmer, 87, of Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 28, with his beloved wife, Lelia “Betty” Hanmer at his side.
He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Rumford, the son of Robert and Elva (Hammond) Hanmer. He was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1940, and attended Kansas State College. He served in the U.S. Army in both the European and Pacific Theaters during World War II. He worked for Oxford Paper Co. and Boise Cascade for 44 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Rumford First Baptist Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Lelia “Betty” (Witham), who he married on July 6, 1943, in Manhattan, Kan.; a son, James Hanmer and his wife, Cyndi, of Dixfield; five daughters, Linda Bryant and her husband, Gerry, of Springfield, Mo., Virginia DeRocco of Mexico, Bonnie Frost and her husband, Charles, of Jay, Deborah Hunt and her husband, Mark, of Rumford and Rebecca Woods and her husband, Walter, of Belfast; a brother, Douglas Hanmer and his wife, Vivian, of Sangerville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
