AUBURN — Earl W. Lawrence, 82, of Lewiston, died Friday at Clover Health Care Center.
He was born in West Minot on Dec,. 27, 1928, the son of Leonard and Grace Leach Lawrence. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1948 and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy.
On Dec. 17, 1949, he married Dorothy Wood who died on June 18, 2002.
Earl had been employed as a machinist in New Jersey and retired from Tampax in Auburn. While working for Tampax, they sent him to Ireland to help set up other plants. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and life. He had traveled to Alaska. Earl was an accomplished woodworker making novelties such as wishing wells and flowers.
He is survived by his son, Leonard, and his wife, Terry, of Farmington; a sister, Bessie Bryant, of West Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his best friends Frank, Larry and Irene.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Marjorie.
