Earle A. Tarr Jr.


GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. – Earle A. Tarr Jr., 74, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Auburn, and Melbourne Beach, Fla., passed away on May 2.

He was born June 8, 1932, in Winthrop, the only son of Earle A. Tarr and Arline Bisson Tarr. A 1950 graduate of Winthrop High School, he married Regina Gallagher on Sept. 5, 1953, and graduated from the University of Maine in 1954 with a B.S. in civil engineering.

From 1958 to 1986 he was superintendent and general manager of Auburn Water and Sewer District. From 1971 to 72, he was chairman of the Lewiston-Auburn Water Pollution Control Authority. He was a member and past president of the Maine Water Utilities Association, as well as a member of the American Water Works Association.

After living in Melbourne Beach, Fla., from 1986 to 2001, where he was employed by BSE Engineering, he and Regina moved to Green Valley, Ariz., in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Regina; his children, Judith Tarr of Vail, Ariz., William (Bonita) Tarr of Carmel and Meredith Tarr (Robert Woiccak) of New Haven, Conn.; grandchildren, Brett, Jason and Shenita Tarr, and one great-granddaughter, all of Carmel.

He was predeceased by a son, Earle A. Tarr III.
