AUBURN – Edward Little starting pitcher Kyle Gigure had three hits, including a double, to lead the Red Eddies to an 8-7 victory over Mt. Blue in a baseball matchup on Wednesday.
Edward Little was down 7-6 going into the bottom of the seventh. Gigure led off the inning with a double and later scored on an error to tie the game. Then Matt Meserve singled in Tyler Snowe for the game-winning run. Justin Ciszewski hit an RBI-double in the third for EL (3-1).
John Moloney had three hits, including a pair of doubles, while Steve Wells also had two hits for the Cougars (2-2).
Greely 5, Fryeburg 1
FRYEBURG – Sam Green pitched a complete game, gave up one run on five hits, and had two doubles and two RBIs to lead Greely to a 5-1 victory over Fryeburg in baseball action.
Steve Morse hit a two-run double in the fourth to make it 4-1 Greely at that point. Chris Martin and Matt McDonogh also had doubles for Greely (4-0).
Finn Chappell had two hits, including a double for Fryeburg (1-3), while Pat Tweedie also had a pair of hits.
Mountain Valley 9, Lisbon 4
LISBON – Corey Devoe belted a two-RBI home run in the third inning to propel Mountain Valley to a 9-4 victory over Lisbon in MVC baseball matchup Wednesday.
Marcus Palmer and Cody McPhearson chipped in for the Falcons (2-0) with two hits each. Palmer also picked up the mound win with a six-hit, complete game performance.
The Greyhounds (3-1) were paced by Max Hathaway with a two-run double, while Levi Ervin belted out a pair of hits. Starter Payton Austin was credited with the loss after a damaging fifth inning.
Buckfield 8, NYA 7
BUCKFIELD – In a dramatic sixth inning, Buckfield came from behind to tally three runs and claim the 8-7 win over North Yarmouth Academy in baseball Wednesday afternoon.
Jamie Henderson hit a two-run single, while the third run was scored on a passed ball to allow the Bucks (2-0) to come back from a 7-5 deficit and notch the win. Matt Lowell contributed with a double.
The NYA (0-3) effort was paced by James Spicisbury with a double, and Sean Lynch with two hits.
Poland 4, Falmouth 1
FALMOUTH – Junior lefties Jake Pelletier and Joe Douglass combined to pitch a solid game, securing a 4-1 Poland win over Falmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
Pelletier pitched the first five and a quarter innings, striking out seven batters and picking off two runners. Douglass came in with runners on second and third, and got the No. 4 Falmouth batter to hit a pop-up.
He struck out Dave Witcowski to end the inning before striking out the sides in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Jake Sproul hit a two-run double in the second, while Tyler Merchant and Douglass each hit RBI doubles for the Knights’ (2-0) win. Merchant was also credited with four stolen bases.
The lone repeat hitter of the contest was Tony Galli with three hits for the Yachtsman (1-1).
Brunswick 13, Leavitt 3
BRUNSWICK – Jeff Sickel paved the way as the lone repeat hitter of the game, aiding Brunswick onward to a 13-3 win over Leavitt in a KVAC baseball matchup.
Sickel had two hits, including a single, and hit an RBI double for the Dragons (2-1).
Brunswick capitalized on walks and hit batters in the fifth and sixth innings to rack up nine runs and put them at a 13-3 scoring advantage.
Jay 10, Winthrop 3
WINTHROP – Zane Armandi went 4-for-5 with five runs scored to propel Jay to a 10-3 victory over Winthrop in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Steve Nelson chipped in for the Tigers (4-0) with three hits, while Mike Holland and Rocky DeSanctis added two each. Nelson also earned the mound win, allowing just five hits in seven innings of work.
The Ramblers (1-1) were paced by Rusty Schmelzer with an RBI triple, while David Ricker also belted a triple. Starter Cory Gillespie was saddled with the loss after allowing nine runs in the first six innings.
Maranacook 7, Camden Hills 6
READFIELD – Dillion Collins had three hits, including a double, to lead Maranacook to a 7-6 victory over Camden Hills in a baseball contest on Wednesday.
Justin Denbow and Craig Maffei also had a pair of hits for Maranacook (4-0). Will Bardaglio drove in two runs for the Black Bears. Camden Hills’ (0-4) catcher Noah Burke had two doubles and two RBIs.
Monmouth 13, Telstar 12
MONMOUTH – Monmouth was down 5-1 in the sixth and came back with eight runs to make it 9-5 going into the seventh inning.
Then Telstar scored seven runs to take a 12-9 lead before Monmouth scored four in the seventh to beat Telstar 13-12 in a back-and-forth baseball game.
Monmouth’s Scott Ogden, who finished with four hits and four RBIs, hit a two-run double in the seventh to tie the game at 12-12, then Ben Seefeldt used the suicide squeeze to bring home Erik Smith for the game-winning run.
Nate Walker had three hits and three RBIs in the tough loss for Telstar (0-2). Gavin Broomhall had two hits, including an RBI-double for the Rebels.
Hebron 9, Gould 0
BETHEL – Brandon Rolfe had a solid day on the mound, allowing only two hits, and striking out 15 batters, as Hebron defeated Gould 9-0 in baseball Wednesday.
Zach Lebowitz went 1-1, hitting a two-run double for Hebron (3-3). Jose Gumbs had two hits, with a double, a stolen base, and two RBIs, while Mike Turk went 2-3 with two runs as well.
Hebron 15, New Hampton 2
NEW HAMPTON – Greg Harrington led all players with seven goals as Hebron dominated over New Hampton 15-2 in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Cameron Gosney chipped in with three goals and three assists, while Charlie Cummings added a pair of goals for the Hebron win. Roman Gosney contributed a goal and six assists, while Ross Thayer and TJ Thayer rounded out the scoring effort.
New Hampton was paced with a goal apiece by Joe Galvin and Chris Deluca.
