Edward Little baseball 2017 preview

Coach: Dave Jordan (Third year)

Class: A; Conference: KVAC

Last year’s record: 17-2 (lost in Class A North final)

Returning athletes: Seniors — Jarod Norcross Plourde (P/INF), Damien St. Pierre (P), C.J. Jipson (P/OF) Tyler Blanchard (OF/P), Ben Harris (1B/P), Mason Brushwein (OF); Junior — Tyler Libby (P), Grant Hartley (1B/OF).

Key losses: Brandon Varney, Drew Lashua, Austin Cox.

Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Ethan Brown (P), Max Bell (3B/C).

Season outlook: The Red Eddies still have some position battles to sort out, especially up the middle. But the pitching staff is as strong and — with three righties and three lefties — as balanced as there is in the league. Eleven victories on the mound over the last two seasons make Norcross Plourde the clear ace and earned him a baseball scholarship to Hartford, and St. Pierre would be an ace on a lot of other staffs. Blanchard, who hit over .420 as a junior, and Norcross Plourde, who hit .417, lead the offense.
