EL, Lewiston to donate night doubleheader proceeds


AUBURN — Edward Little and Lewiston high schools will donate proceeds from their Friday, May 14 softball and baseball doubleheader to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The Portland Sea Dogs have invited the teams to their game on Sunday, June 6 to make the presentation.

Four years ago, EL and Lewiston the tradition of playing their second regular-season baseball game each spring under the lights at Auburn Suburban Little League complex. This year, the softball game at Dennis Sweetser Field begins at 5 p.m., followed at the baseball game on adjacent Austin Field at 7 p.m.

Admission to the games will be $3 for adults, $2 for students, or $5 per carload. All proceeds will go to Strike Out Cancer In Kids, one of the Sea Dogs’ long-standing charities.

Auburn-Lewiston Sports Hall of Famers and University of Maine baseball greats Brian Seguin and Rick Lashua will throw out the ceremonial first pitches.
