STRONG — The Maine Chapter of American Mothers Inc. has selected Elaine Allen of Strong as the Maine State Mother of the Year 2010. Allen, wife of Lendell L. Allen, is the proud mother of six, grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of five.
Allen earned her LPN in 1972 and her RN in 1992. She has worked for Franklin Hospital, for a home for severe and profoundly retarded children and worked for Home Health, specializing in pediatrics, ending her nursing career as MDS Coordinator for nursing homes, retiring in 2003.
Being a mother is her most satisfying accomplishment. She loves helping family and friends, baking, decorating cakes, tole painting, sewing and knitting.
Her most important lesson for our children is to love one another and to become happy, prosperous, understanding individuals.
She will represent the State of Maine at the National Convention in New York City in April 2010.
