CANTON — Eleanor M. Austin, 93, of Prospect Avenue, Rumford, died Monday, Feb. 13, at the Victorian Villa.
She was born in Mexico, Jan. 14, 1919, the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Knauer) White and graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1957.
Eleanor worked as manager of the Mexico Movie Theater, prior to its fire and then owned, with her husband, Bob’s Exxon Service and Gas Station in Rumford for many years, until her retirement.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church and member of Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE Auxiliary and Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club.
She was married in Rumford, June 12, 1946, to Robert F. Austin Jr., who died March 12, 2007.
Survivors include a son, James Austin and his fiancee, Jeanne A. MacDonald, of Rumford; granddaughter, Teryn Austin of Rumford; sister, Dorothy White of Lewiston; brother, John D. White and wife, Constance, of Cumberland Center; and nephew, Gary Wing and wife, Maureen, of Medford, Mass.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and sister, Barbara Wing.
