ELHS summer basketball camp details announced

AUBURN – The Edward Little High School basketball teams will host the sixth-annual Red Eddies Basketball Camp. This is a program for boys and girls entering grades one through eight. The camp is held at Edward Little High School with six one-week sessions beginning June 21. This is a day camp, and campers may sign up for one week at a time or for the entire summer.

The camp is designed to improved player fundamentals and will meet the needs of beginners and advanced players. Campers will play games against other communities in selected weeks.

The camp is directed by varsity coaches Mike Adams and Craig Jipson. Adams has led the Edward Little boys to back-to-back Eastern Maine titles and KVAC championships. He is a former Gatorade Player of the Year and Maine Mr. Basketball (1990) and has been named KVAC Coach of the Year three times. Jipson has led the girls to the KVAC championship game two years in a row and is a four-time conference Coach of the Year and two time Eastern Maine Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Adams and  Jipson have combined for more than 300 career victories.

Memorial softball tournament scheduled

AUGUSTA – The second-annual Maine Memorial Softball Tournament will be held at Augusta fields on Sunday, May 30. This tournament is for any lower class teams that want to enjoy a fun day of softball. Teams are guaranteed three games. Entry fee is $210 per team. Trophies and MVP awards will be given to top teams. Call 212-7424 for more information.

River Valley one-pitch tourneys

MEXICO – The River Valley Softball League will be hosting two co-ed one-pitch Tournaments. The first will take place June 5 and the second on July 24, both at the Mexico Rec Park. Registration will be $125 per team. Only 10 teams will be entered per tournament. The Winning team receives a trophy and 50 percent off registration toward the next tournament.
