RUMFORD — The Rumford Lodge of Elks #862 will be having an open house and membership drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Lodge, located on River Street. Light refreshments will be provided.
The major project for the Maine Elks Association is the Maine Children’s Cancer Program in which the Elks are the major contributors.
The Grand Lodge of the Elks’ major program is the Elks National Foundation. This fund enables Elks members’ children many opportunities to attend college or other secondary schools.
Some of the projects the Rumford Lodge does include Maine Children’s Cancer Program; D.A.R.E. program; drug awareness coloring contests; Americanism essay contest; scholarships yearly; Punt, Kick and Pass; Hoop Shoot; Soccer Shoot; parades; flag retirement services; Flag Day service; memorial services; and we strongly support our veterans in many ways.
We are in need of new members to join our ranks so if you feel you would like to know more about the Elks and possibly become a member of this great organization, join us for our open house on May 13.
