Emergency crews work to extricate driver in Jay crash

JAY —  A local woman escaped with a minor head injury when her vehicle went off Route 133 and rolled over, according to police.

Skylar Sigman, 23, of Wilton, was driving south toward Livermore Falls when she lost control of the vehicle. It went off the road on the left and rolled over, Jay police officer Mike Mejia said. The call came in at 12:08 p.m., he said.

At this time, it is not known what caused her to lose control of the car.  The road was wet and sanded, he said. The rollover occurred on a hill near the intersection with the Lomie Rivers Road.

Sigman was trapped in the vehicle but was conscious and alert as emergency personnel worked to extricate her, Jay police Chief Richard Caton IV said at the scene.

Members of Jay Fire Department worked for about a half-hour to free her from the 1997 Toyota Camry, Mejia said.

She received a minor head injury and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar ambulance for further evaluation, he said. Once free from the vehicle, she was able to walk to the ambulance.

The vehicle was towed by Northside Auto of Jay, he said.
