OXFORD —The Reading Room Gallery at The Maine Bookhouse will hold an opening reception for "Book Art," a show of old paper arts by Rich Byard of Auburn, on Friday, Oct. 7.
Byard has been buying, selling, collecting and creating art with old paper materials for quite some time. Besides selling well over 100 of his unique "Antiquarian Collages" at Maine summer art shows, he has developed an extensive collection of unusual and hard-to-find paper goods dating back to the early 1800s.
The reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
"Book Art" will be on display through Nov. 30. The Reading Room Gallery at 1545 Main St. is open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. via The Maine Bookhouse, or by appointment.
