1926 – 2013
FARMINGTON — Ernest L. Dawes, 86, a resident of Jay, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5, with his family by his side, at Sandy River Center.
He was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Anson, the son of Omar and Vesta “Betty” (Kennedy) Dawes. He attended school in Anson. On Nov. 23, 1957, at Livermore Falls Baptist Church, he married Lorraine Richards of Jay. She passed away in 2006.
Throughout the years, Ernest worked in the lumber industry; he worked in the sawmills, driving truck, forklift or whatever was needed. He worked at Starbird Lumber in Strong and Irving Lumber Co. in Dixfield, retiring in 1989. Ernest enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and four-wheeling.
He is survived by his three sons, Randy Dawes and his wife, Bobbie Jo, of Jay, Robert Dawes of Jay and Lawrence Dawes of Jackman; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Kenneth Dawes and his wife, Mary, of Anson.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Florence Hoyt and Ruth Perreault; and his brother, Howard Dawes.
