Ernest R. Arsenault Sr.


Rumford – Ernest R. “Ernie” Arsenault Sr., 78, formerly of Crescent Avenue, Rumford, died Monday, May 29, at Rumford Community Home after a long illness.

He was born in Rumford on May 2, 1928, a son of Emile and Leona (Richard) Arsenault.

He was educated in Rumford schools and attended Stephens High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a salesman for HP Hood Milk Co. in Rumford for many years and was affectionately known as “Ernie the Milkman.”

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church. He was a former vice president of the LeParesseux Snowshoe Club.

He loved square dancing, playing cards, bingo, cooking, and animals and was a sports enthusiast.

He is survived by two sons, Ernest R. Arsenault Jr. of Sanford and Chris Arsenault of Rumford; three daughters, Debbie Virgin and husband, Steven, of Dixfield, Lisa Wood and husband, Loring, of East Andover and Darcy Arsenault and companion, John Beardsley, of Rumford; a brother, Raymond Arsenault and wife, Collette, of Pittsfield; a close friend, Tim Inglis; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Irene Morin.
