AUBURN — Ethel Frances Allen, 93, of Auburn, formerly of Springvale, died on Friday, April 30, at the Schooner Estates Residential Care Facility.
Frances was born in Exeter, N.H., Sept. 19, 1916, to Leon and Sadie (Merrow) Otis. Her mother died when she was two years old and she went to live with her aunt and uncle in Springvale. In 1934, she graduated from Sanford High School. In 1937, she married her high school sweetheart, Clayton Lafrinea. They were married for 31 years until his death in 1968. They raised a son, Breton Lafrinea.
She was employed for many years at the former Goodall Textile Mills in Sanford in various departments. She was a member of the Springvale First Baptist Church.
In 1976, she moved to Westpoint, Calif. She married Kenneth Allen in 1980, and spent the next 12 years with him until his death in 1992. In 2005, she moved to Auburn so she could be closer to family.
She enjoyed painting and doing arts and crafts. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed her time with her great-grandchildren, Jami, Tyler, Shelby, Lucienne and Dodge. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her son, Breton Lafrinea and his wife, Rachel, of Poland; three grandchildren, Paul Lafrinea and his wife, Melanie, Cheri Lafrinea and her husband, Scott Brown and Jeffrey Lafrinea and his wife, Angela; and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Clayton Lafrinea; and her second husband, Kenneth Allen.
