1913 – 2010
LEWISTON — Eugenie Baillargeon, 96, formerly of 74 Lake Auburn Ave., Auburn, died Wednesday, April 7, at Montello Manor with her loving family by her side after a short illness.
She was born in Chisholm, July 14, 1913, the daughter of Andre and Anne (Landry) Gallant and had been a resident of this community since 1933.
She was employed as a weaver at the Bates Mill, then became a homemaker having raised six children, which she enjoyed very much.
She was married to Jerome Baillargeon on Sept. 11, 1937; he died on Jan. 4, 1999. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish and a member of Ladies of St. Anne’s at Holy Family Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking for her family and most of all loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Lionel Baillargeon and his wife, Therese, of Poland, Emery Baillargeon and his wife, Betty, of Leeds, Andre Baillargeon and his wife, Joyce, of Turner and Nelson Baillargeon and his wife, Karen, of Hebron; one sister, Jeannette Mazerolle of Aldouane, New Brunswick; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerard Baillargeon; a daughter, Bernadette Leighton; and 13 brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Montello Manor and the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the wonderful care they have given to Eugenie.
