AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club has announced the three Youth of the Year winners: Carin Eisenstein of Edward Little High School, Katelyn St. Pierre of St. Dominic Regional High School and Isla Hansen of Lewiston High School. St. Pierre has been chosen to represent the Auburn Exchange Club in the New England District Youth of the Year competition.

The Youth of the Month/Year Award recognizes industrious high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. The program rewards outstanding young people and also provides an incentive for other youngsters to strive for equally high levels of achievement.

The Auburn Exchange program begins by selecting the Youth of the Month. Each month from October to February, students from Edward Little High School, Lewiston High School and St. Dominic Regional High School are nominated by their respective guidance departments as candidates for Youth of the Year.

Each monthly winner receives a $100 scholarship from the Auburn Exchange Club. Selection of the Youth of the Year is made from among the Youth of the Month recipients for each of the three schools.

The program was changed this year to honor a Youth of the Year from each of the three schools. The winners received a $500 scholarship. The Exchange Club then chose a Youth of the Year winner to represent the club. That student receives an additional $500 scholarship in the New England District Youth of the Year competition and an opportunity to vie for the National Youth of the Year Award.

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community and develop leadership skills and new friendships.

Exchange is made up of some 900 clubs and 30,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Programs include Americanism, community service, youth activities and the national project – the prevention of child abuse.
