Expo planning under way

RUMFORD – After taking a year off to regroup, the River Valley Expo Committee has started planning for next fall’s business event.

The committee is looking for sponsors for the event as well as ideas on how to make the expo more affordable for participants and other improvements.

Beverly Crosby, committee member and administrative assistant for the River Valley Growth Council, said business owners are asked to reply to a survey asking about the dollar level a business can afford and whether a business would join with another to help sponsor the expo.

Responses must be submitted to the RVGC office by Friday.

The growth council and the chamber launched the event in 2003.

At that time, about 150 businesses participated and nearly 3,000 people visited the expo held at Mountain Valley High School.

Because planning is so time-consuming, the committee took last year off.

“This is a good way to boost business and let people know that the business exists. It’s great exposure,” Crosby said.
