2012 – 2014
LEWISTON — Ezekiel traveled the road to Heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Ezekiel “Zeke” Diontae Edwards was born to his loving mother, Vicki Edwards, of Lewiston, and Robert Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 2012.
Ezekiel’s tiny fingers touched and graced his family for 18 months with love, laughter and pride. Zeke could always be found accompanied by his favorite toy, Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear. Zeke loved to watch “Bubble Guppies” and “Paw Patrol” with his “brubba,” best friend and idol, Malachi Edwards.
Ezekiel was happiest making his family smile. He loved going to the beach, dancing and playing “Zeke-a-boo!” His infectious smile and memorable giggle melted the hearts of everyone who came in contact with him.
Ezekiel left his tiny footprints in the hearts of all whom he met. He will be deeply missed by his mother, “mama” Vicki Edwards; father, Robert Smith; brother, “brubba” Malachi Edwards; brother, Jamir, of New York; maternal grandparents, “mammah” Diane and “bampa” Kenneth Edwards Jr., of Lewiston; aunt, “aunny” Heather Edwards, of Lewiston; uncle, “unkie” Kenneth Edwards III, of Lewiston; great-gramma, Lucille Nelson, of Auburn; grand-pepere, Alcide Grondin, of Lewiston; paternal grandparents, Jackie Smith and Robert Edwards of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and several great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Therese Grondin, of Lewiston; great-grandfather, Kenneth E. Edwards Sr., of Turner; and stepgreat-grandfather, Otis H. Nelson, of Auburn.
Ezekiel taught us how precious life truly is, to be free, to have fun and to live each day as if it were your last.
