Faith an educational choice

A few weeks ago, there was a 20-page flyer in the Sun Journal from SAD 44 that outlined adult education classes. I noticed the ones titled “Introduction to Meditation,” “Healing Angels of the Energy Field,” “Holistic Film Series,” “Introduction to Bach Flower Therapy,” “Your True Nature,” “Integrated Energy Therapy,” “Reiki, Level I and II,” “Yoga,” and “Sharmanic Teachings.”

I know that the instructors of each of those classes are concerned about people and their needs. But I believe that those topics are based on religious teachings, and I disagree with all of them.

I would encourage SAD 44 to also include the teachings of Jesus Christ as another alternative. Many people have been delivered from drug and alcohol abuse and depression, and received healings from studying the Holy Bible with a humble and contrite heart. Jeremiah 33:3 states: “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things that thou knowest not.”

Christianity should be presented as truth. As author Jon Beacham wrote, “God did not impel people to faith, because faith coerced is not faith, but tyranny. It has to be a choice.”

SAD 44 should give the public the opportunity of choice in adult education. What I received in my faith was love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.
