JAY — Faith Way Baptist Church of Jay is excited about the opening of their new building at 66 Hyde Road. The grand opening service took place Feb. 12.
As is typical with any church, there is Sunday School for the children. Faith Way Baptist Church, however, features a dynamic adult Bible class geared toward helping people make church and faith relevant to their day to day lives.
Faith Way Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Alan Archer, started two years ago and has been meeting in a private home. The church began looking for a place where they could open their doors to the public in July 2010. The church purchased the building at 66 Hyde Road two days before Thanksgiving. With volunteer labor, they have taken what was a plumbing warehouse and turned into a well-decorated church sanctuary. While there is still much work to be done on the building, the auditorium is ready to accommodate services.
There are more expansion plans underway. The church plans an active outreach for teenagers in the Jay area, including an opportunity to attend regular activities and summer leadership camp. They also hope to add special marriage building seminars in the near future. In addition to the ministry expansion, the is much more remodeling to do on the building. “We’ll do it as we can,” said Archer. “We will pay cash for all of our renovations and that will just take time.”
