FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was arraigned in Franklin County Superior Court on Monday on a charge of furnishing a 13-year-old Wilton youth with Ritalin, a prescription drug used for attention deficit disorder, police said.
David M. Shanley, 26, was arrested Friday on a warrant charging aggravated furnishing of a scheduled drug, Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV said. Shanley also is accused of injecting the drug into the teen, he said.
Shanley does not have a prescription for Ritalin, Hastings said.
Ritalin is used for attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and a sleep disorder.
Family members reported the Jan. 31 incident, which occurred at a home in Farmington, and an investigation by police Sgt. Michael Adcock and Hastings led to the arrest, he said.
Shanley had bail set at $5,000 cash and remained at the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington late Monday, a jailer said. He is scheduled to appear in court April 18.
