Farrington no-hits Bulldogs


BETHEL – Jessie Farrington fired a complete-game no-hitter to lead Telstar to a 5-1 win over Madison in softball Friday.

Jillian Kimball keyed a two-run first inning for the Rebels (5-0) with an RBI triple to right centerfield.

Liz Rosenberg’s two-run single in the fourth was added insurance. Farrington (2-0) was helped in the seventh by stellar plays in the field by third baseman Stephanie Tripp and first sacker Chelsea Cozzolino to preserve the no-hitter.

Ashely Marandola (4-2) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs (4-2).

Lisbon 4, Livermore Falls 3

LISBON – Soleil Mathieu singled in Erica Merritt for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Lisbon defeated Livermore Falls 4-3 in softball action on Friday.

Livermore Falls (3-4) tied the game at 3-3 in the top half of the seventh, when Marjorie Debrosky hit a two-out triple that scored Katie Warren who singled earlier. Then in the bottom of the seventh Merritt singled, moved to second on a passed ball, then scored on Mathieu’s single to win the game.

Christey Mcauliffe had three hits and Heather Perry had two RBIs for Lisbon (6-1).

Cony 4, Leavitt 0

TURNER – Monica White struck out 17 batters, allowed one hit with no walks in a complete-game shutout to lead Cony to a 4-0 victory over Leavitt in a KVAC softball matchup.

Kristi Violette hit an RBI-double in the fifth for Cony (6-1), while Shelby Pelkey had two hits.

Beth Burgess had the lone hit for the Hornets (3-4) in the second.

St. Dom’s 16, Traip 0

KITTERY – Danielle Guerin collected five RBIs in a 3-for-4 hitting performance as St. Dom’s rolled over Traip 16-0 in five innings on Friday.

Mary Lewis had three hits in three trips to the plate, including a homer, racking up four RBIs and four runs scored. Elisha Dorso also left the park for the Saints (2-2) and Laura Robitzek home run fell short of the cycle.

Danielle Jamison (1-2) pitched a one-hitter for the win, striking out six and walking only one.

Monmouth 10, Mt. Abram 0

SALEM – Brit Hilton pitched a complete-game no-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead Monmouth to a 10-0 victory over Mt. Abram in an MVC softball contest on Friday.

Only one person reached base for Mt. Abram (3-3) when Hilton hit a batter. Jen Lola had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and a run scored for Monmouth (4-1).

Oak Hill 12, Camden Hills 0

CAMDEN HILLS – Audrey Grass ripped a double and batted in a pair of runs as Oak Hill cruised to a five-inning 12-0 victory over Camden Hills in girls’ softball action Friday.

Magan Blais added a triple and an RBI to support the pitching of Angie Russell (3-1) for the Raiders (5-2).

Jessica Fossett (2-5) picked up the defeat for Camden Hills (2-5).

Mountain Valley 15, Wiscasset 4

WISCASSET – The Falcons rang up eight runs in the top of the second inning to blow open the game as Mountain Valley rolled to a 15-4 victory over host Wiscasset in MVC softball.

Kelly Palmer pitched two innings for the win before turning to the ball over to Kristen Arsenault and Abby Mills, and the three combined on a three-hitter. Tanya Martin had a pair of hits for the Falcons (2-4), including a double.

Mt. Ararat 2, EL 1

TOPSHAM – Janina Brown singled and then came home on a hit by Jamie Ouellette in the bottom of the sixth inning as Mt. Ararat eked out a 2-1 win over Edward Little.

The Eddies led the game 1-0 after two innings on an RBI single by Kendra Butcher that scored Kim Lawrence, but a Lauren Potter double knotted the game up for the Eagles in the third.

Tristan Pepin pitched the complete game for Mt. Ararat (2-5). Alyssa Levesque (0-3) was tagged with the hard-luck loss. Lawrence had two hits in the game for EL (1-6), including a double.

Dirigo 12, Georges Valley 10

DIXFIELD – Ashley Noyes had a pinch hit double in the bottom of the fifth and Michelle Holmquist had an RBI single to push Dirigo ahead 11-10.

Then Dani Thompkins doubled and scored on an RBI-single from Christina Chow to make it a 12-10 final as Dirigo defeated Georges Valley in softball action Friday.

Katie Hutchinson earned her third win of the season on the mound for the Cougars in a back-and-forth game at Marble Park.

Rangeley 22, Valley 5

BINGHAM – Rangeley made short work of Valley on Friday, taking a 22-5 decision in only four innings of work in softball.

Kate Jamison allowed no earned runs, fanning eight and issuing five walks for the win, and added a triple at the plate for the Lakers. Angela White legged out an inside-the-park home run for Rangeley (1-1).

Abby Madeira and Hayley White hit doubles in the game and had two hits apiece, and Emily George added a pair of singles.

Cape Elizabeth 4, Poland 3

CAPE ELIZABETH – Marla Houghton’s bloop single into left field plated the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Cape Elizabeth edged Poland 4-3 in softball action Friday.

Poland (3-2) tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the last frame on a two-out double into the gap in left-center by catcher Dani Belanger.

Katie Simpson knocked in the other run for the Knights on a first-inning single. Kelli O’Connor (3-1) was tagged with the defeat.

Jackie Moran (5-1) allowed four hits and fanned 10 for the Capers (5-1).
