Fayette budget hearing today at Central School

FAYETTE – A public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. today at Fayette Central School, to discuss the proposed municipal budget.

The budget for 2006-07 is expected to be about 1 percent lower than it was last year, at nearly $813,000. But an increase in the county tax, which is up more than 10 percent, will bring the total municipal expenditure up more than .5 percent from what it was last year, to $935,840.

The voting portion of annual town meeting starts at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, with primary and local elections. The actual meeting begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 17.
