1937 – 2014
AUGUSTA — Ferlene Conley, 77, a resident of Readfield, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Leeds on April 29, 1937, a daughter of Norman and Bertha (Waldren) Stevens. Ferlene attended school in Leeds and worked as a CNA at the Togus Nursing Home in Augusta, retiring in 2002. She was married to Lloyd Gray in 1958, and was later married to Ronald Conley in 1995.
She enjoyed many different crafts and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Readfield Golden Guys and Gals Organization and was a founding member of Families Matter, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.
Ferlene is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Readfield; three sons and their spouses, Craig and Diana Gray of Livermore, Alan and Lisa Gray of Otisfield and Mark Gray of Readfield; four daughters and their spouses, Cheryl and Jack Seaberg of Cheyenne, Wyo., Holly and Alton Goldrup of Greene, Robin and Joey Graziano of Bowdoin and Peggy and Darren White of Mount Vernon; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Laura and Michael Rowell of Lineville, Ala., Diane and James Delatte of Bridge City, La., and Erica Conley and Kenneth Kelly of Oxford, Alabama; five stepgrandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley, David, Herman, Charlie and Wesley Stevens; and sisters, Martha Frost and Margaret Strupcewski.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Bryon Stevens; and her first husband, Lloyd Gray.
