Fertility center to open on Main Street

LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will expand its relationship with the Boston IVF fertility program and open a new fertility center on Main Street.

The hospital will formally announce the changes Thursday.

CMMC and Boston IVF, a Massachusetts-based in vitro fertilization center, have worked together for 22 years, offering help with fertility problems. Often, though, patients had to travel to Boston.

Now, CMMC can deal with more procedures and lab work. Some patients may only have to go to Boston for in vitro transfers, according to hospital spokesman Chuck Gill.

“Most fertility problems can be handled in Lewiston,” he said.

The new CMMC fertility center will open at 287 Main St., sharing the building with radiology and other specialties.
