Fiddlehead Center fundraiser

NEW GLOUCESTER – Each spring, the International Arts and Cultural Festival transforms the Pineland campus into a global village.

At this third annual fundraising event for Fiddlehead Center for the Arts, festival-goers will experience the colors, sounds and aromas of world cultures from China, Latin America, Cambodia, France, Ireland and West Africa.

The International Festival will be held rain or shine, 10 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3. All events and activities will be under tents at the Pineland Campus, 83 Pineland Drive in New Gloucester. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and children 12 and under are free.

There will be live music, art and craftwork and hands-on activities for children of all ages. The eclectic world sounds of Inanna, Esperanza, Loopin’ and the Dave Rowe Trio will be heard. The Shoestring Puppet Theater will perform an interactive parade at noon.

The International Food Court will be open all day with food vendors offering an international fare and over 20 artisans will be selling their wares.

“I love the unique arts festival,” says festival-goer, Adam Peck “it is truly a one-of-a-kind arts event the whole family can enjoy. We really like the performers and the interactive family-friendly activities, I tell all my friends they need to attend.” The Global Village will feature a blend of international performances; musical “petting zoo” featuring guitars, violins, keyboards and more; rhythm jungle musical experimentation; clay / pottery making; storytelling; rock climbing wall and many more arts-and-crafts activities.

Fiddlehead Center for the Arts’ vision is to bring art to the forefront of youth by offering after-school programs in the arts – music, dance, drama, foreign languages and visual arts and sciences of engineering, architecture and design.
