Fire damages boats in Chelsea

CHELSEA, Mass. (AP) – Authorities investigated on Sunday a fire at a boatyard that damaged eight to 10 boats at the Admiral’s Hill Marina.

Firefighters struggled to get close to the blaze on Saturday night because the boats were tightly packed together and flames spread underneath them, said Chelsea Fire Chief Joe Sewko.

He said no one was injured in the fire, which was knocked down by 9:30 p.m. Firefighters from surrounding communities helped battle the two-alarm blaze.

Jim Jadul, general manager of the marina, said the boats there were 25 feet to 40 feet long and ranged in price from $50,000 to $250,000.

The boatyard docks about 120 boats.
